February 10 2009 - azjure's historic pinot noir vineyard produces its first harvest since being restored
We're very excited to announce that our historic pinot noir vines have today produced their first harvest in many years! We restored the 30 year old vineyard, which is the oldest pinot noir patch in Queensland, to health, following several years during which they were unattended. The studios at azjure are set right next to the vineyard, so guests can see the grape growing process first hand.
We picked the grapes at around 13.7 baume. The wine is being made by Ballandean winery Symphony Hill, under the supervision of their winemaker Mike Hayes. Mike planted the vineyard with his father back in the 1970's, so the patch has a special meaning for him.
