A very special part of azjure is the historic vineyard, which is the oldest patch of pinot noir in Queensland.
Planted over thirty years ago by Symphony Hill winemaker Mike Hayes and his father, the vineyard was restored as part of the development of azjure.
The around 1,000 old vines produced their first vintage following restoration in 2009. Fittingly, it was Mike Hayes who made the wine, from the very vineyard he planted all those years ago.
The "Symphony Hill 2009 azjure Reserve Pinot Noir", which is tasting fantastic, has now been released. With only 64 dozen bottles made, the wine is sure to be in high demand.
The 2010 vintage is in bottles and also looks good. We did not produce a vintage in 2011, as due to the terrible weather the grape quality was not up to the standard we demand for azjure Pinot Noir. |
